Privacy policy
What we collect through this website, why we collect it, and what happens to it afterwards. Written in plain English, because a privacy policy nobody can read isn’t worth having.

The short version
We collect what we need to answer your enquiry and quote the work. We don’t sell it, we don’t pass it to advertisers, and we won’t add you to a mailing list. If you’d rather not put anything in a form, ring us on 1300 910 499 instead — that works just as well.
We handle personal information in line with the Australian Privacy Principles.
What we collect
When you send an enquiry through our quote form, we collect:
- your name, email address, phone number, and how you’d rather we got back to you
- the building’s street address and postcode, what sort of building it is, and how many storeys
- what you need done, roughly how many doors are involved, whether they carry tags, and whether an Annual Fire Safety Statement is due
- whatever you tell us in your own words
- any photos you attach
Our web host also keeps ordinary server logs — IP address, browser, which pages were requested — and our security plugin records failed login attempts. That’s routine housekeeping for running a website, and nobody looks at it unless something goes wrong.
Why we collect it
To answer your enquiry, prepare a quote, and do the work if you go ahead. Each field earns its place: the address and the door count are how we work out what a job involves, and the question about an Annual Fire Safety Statement is how we know whether you’re up against a deadline. Photos are the most useful thing you can send — they often let us tell you something worth knowing before anyone drives out to look.
Who else sees it
We don’t sell personal information. There are two situations where it goes beyond us:
- The fire protection company that engaged us. A good deal of our work comes as a subcontract. Where that’s the case, they hold the job with the building owner, and your details and our findings go back to them.
- Uptick. Our job management system. Once an enquiry becomes a job, the building’s details and the work done are recorded there.
Two other things worth being clear about. Our web host and our email provider necessarily handle the information in passing — a form submission lands on a server and arrives as an email — but they don’t use it for anything of their own. And the manufacturers who make doors and supply hardware receive measurements and specifications only; they don’t get your contact details.
Where it’s kept
The website runs in a Sydney data centre, so a form submission stays in Australia when it arrives. Beyond that, we use Microsoft 365 for email and Uptick for job records, and like most cloud services these may store or be accessed from outside Australia. Google Analytics, described below, sends data to Google overseas.
How long we keep it
As long as we genuinely need it. An enquiry that becomes a job becomes part of a job record, and fire door work produces certificates and registers that have to be available for years afterwards — so those are not something we clear out at the end of the month.
If you sent us an enquiry that didn’t turn into work and you’d like it removed, just ask and we’ll delete it.
Cookies and analytics
This site carries no advertising and no tracking pixels. Nobody is building a profile of you here.
We use Google Analytics 4 to see how people find and use the site — which pages get read, which don’t, roughly where visitors come from. It sets cookies and reports to us in aggregate; we don’t use it to identify individuals. Your browser settings, or a browser extension, will block it if you’d rather it didn’t run.
Some cookies are simply needed for the site to work — keeping a form’s place as you move through it, for instance. Those can’t be turned off without breaking the thing they support.
Keeping it safe
The site runs over HTTPS, sits behind a firewall, and access to the admin side is limited to us. We take reasonable steps to protect what you send. We won’t claim any system is perfectly secure, because none is.
Seeing what we hold, or correcting it
Email admin@shirefire.com.au or ring 1300 910 499 and ask. We’ll want to be reasonably sure it’s you before we hand anything over, but there’s no form to fill in and no charge. If we can’t give you something, we’ll tell you why.
If you’re not happy with how we’ve handled it
Tell us first — admin@shirefire.com.au or 1300 910 499 — and we’ll do our best to sort it out. If you’re still not satisfied, you can take it to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Changes to this policy
If we change how we handle information, we’ll update this page and change the date at the top. We won’t quietly broaden what we do with something you’ve already sent us.
